Jesus Blog: Guilt and Shame

More today from Susan Cottrell’s “Jesus Blog” – a word from Jesus to you…

My beloved: I don’t want you to wrestle with guilt.

Many Christian teachers use guilt to motivate people to action they deem necessary. But that is not God’s way.

If you are wrestling with old mistakes, pause. Ask me if you need to take any measures toward healing those mistakes. If so, do that.  If not, let it go.

To continue to feel guilty is to shift into shame. Shame is not God’s way.

God is never, ever ashamed of you. God made you, exactly as you are!

God is kind to you. God takes you by the hand and gently leads you in a direction toward life and wholeness.

A good parent does not correct children by telling them they are failures or that something is fundamentally wrong with them. A good parent loves their children and guides them for the child’s and others’ benefit.

Please don’t let naysayers tell you you’re a failure or that something is wrong with you.

That’s not true. That’s not God.
