You’re here now …

#MorningCoffeeThoughts. What fun could there be in life for God who knows the end from the beginning? What’s the point of it all if everything of importance has already been settled since before the creation of the world?

For the God who Was, Is, and Is To Come, for the God who is the Alpha and Omega, the one who knows all and sees all, the beginning from the end, the joy is in the NOW. His joy is in living and participating with us in the moment.

Bringing this down to earth: our personal “destinies” are not all that important. Your greatness is not in the future. And you won’t be more important to God’s plan somewhere down the road. You’re important now. What you are doing now is what brings joy to God.

Like, for me, holding my dog in my lap with my morning coffee, or playing with her for a few minutes to start the day. I know she won’t be around for too many more years. But that’s not the point. She is here now. Her life has meaning now. And she brings me pleasure and joy in loving her now.

Isn’t this how it is with God? And isn’t this what life really is? Sure, we have eternity. But the joy is in the living — in this moment, now.

And no, that’s not my dog. Photo is from Darinka Kievskaya on Unsplash
