A word from Jesus to you ….
How is your sleep going? Do you sleep well at night, or do you toss and turn, worrying about what is ahead for you?
You may fear you never have enough: time, money, rest, love. When I’m your guide, you don’t have to lack any of these things. (That’s what David meant when he said “The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing.”) You don’t have to get yourself all sorted out. Just trust God who will provide for you.
Trust that you have enough, that you are enough!
I have an idea for you. As you lie down for bed, imagine yourself with me. I’ll take you anywhere you want to go. Stand on the roof with me, and we’ll fly out over your neighborhood for a good bird’s-eye view. You can put your hand on mine (like the ghost in A Christmas Carol or Harry Potter flying with Dumbledore). Or you can just hold onto me. Or I’ll hold onto you!
We can soar off a cliff over the Grand Canyon, or we can parachute from an airplane! We can plunge the depths of the sea or soar around the planets.
We can go anywhere you want to go, without any fear at all. It’s me, you know—you’re totally safe with me. I want you to enjoy my company and know my protection.
Soon you will find yourself drifting off to sleep with a smile on your face. You can trust me. Really.
See you tonight.
