PressReleaseOutliciousTV is pleased to announce season 1 of our LGBT drama series, Disposable Teens, has been nominated for Best Indie Series for the 6th Annual Streamy Awards.

The Streamy Awards is an annual awards show honoring the best and the brightest in internet video entertainment. Think Emmys for YouTube/Vimeo. Streamy Award winners will be determined by a group of creators, executives, and other experts in the online video industry. Previous nominees have seen their shows and careers skyrocket after the event. Last year’s event aired on VH1.

“This year’s Streamy nominees represent the most diverse range of creators the Streamy Awards have ever seen, with stars on new and emerging platforms,” Streamy Awards founder Drew Baldwin said in a statement released Wednesday. “Creators have reached new heights in how they captivate, inspire, educate, and entertain us—with new technologies, new formats and new ways to engage with their communities. We’re honored to be celebrating these achievements with such a brilliant class of creative people.”

Disposable Teens shares the Indie category with another LGBT show, Couple-ish, as well as the series Brooklyn Sound, Made In Mosjøen, and Muzzled the Musical.

outlicisoustv“We are ecstatic LGBT stories like Disposable Teens are being elevated to the national stage,” says Brian Pelletier, director of Disposable Teens and founder of OutliciousTV. “Just one year ago we were just finishing up the first draft of scripts on Season One. We have come a long way.”

Disposable Teens is about a gay teen runaway named Austin (Chris Jehnert) who is forced to leave his home after coming out of the closet and realizing his family is not accepting. The story is a personal one for Pelletier as he experienced a similar situation growing up.

The Streamy Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions and TubeFilter and will be held on October 4th at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. More information about the airing of the awards show will be released as we receive it.
