Be At Peace – You Are Perfect To Me

My beloved child, you are mine. You are my treasure. I love you exactly the way you are.

I want you to stop striving to be better. Stop trying to be perfect. You are perfect exactly where you are. By perfect I mean fully formed, mature, exactly where you’re supposed to be.

When you read Matthew 5:48, read it to say, “Be fully formed, therefore, even as your heavenly father is fully formed or complete.” The purpose is not for you to be perfect, without mistake, without ever tripping up. Nobody does that. Let that different reading show you my words in a whole different light.

A newborn baby girl is a fully formed baby girl. When she’s 20 years old, she is a fully formed 20-year-old. She is not yet matured into what she will be at 45 or 70, but she is still fully formed where she is. All along the way she is growing, maturing, learning. But every point along the way, she’s already fully formed.

Don’t lament that 10 years ago you were not where you are now, nor that you are not yet where you will be in the future.

You are exactly where you need to be. You are perfect to me.

Just rest in me, I’ll take you everywhere you need to go. And what an adventure it is!

Be at peace.
